I've mentioned it before on DJML that I used to listen to the same broadcast
from St. Pete, Florida. That would have been 1957 as that was the only year
I lived in Florida (last year of high school!).  Didn't know I could've
heard it from California, though.

I used to set my alarm to 1am & then put my fingers on the antenae poles to
hear the station.
I heard Earl "Fatha" Hines live from N.O. that way, also.
