Dear Katie,
By sheer coincidence, this was sent to me this morning by a local mate:

Another woman artist/composer to consider is the almost forgotten pianist/bandleader/recording artist Cora 'Lovie' Austin.
Also a house pianist for Paramount Records in Chicago, she was quoted by Mary Lou Williams as one of her early influences.
Lovie Austin composed and co-authored many songs and blues including:
Down-Hearted Blues
Chirping the Blues
So Soon This Morning
Jealous Hearted Blues
Bo Weevil Blues
'bama Bound Blues
Bleeding Hearted Blues
Any Woman's Blues
Graveyard Blues
Weary Way Blues
I've Got The Blues For Rampart Street
Chattanooga Blues
Bad Luck Blues
Walking Blues
Travelin' Blues
Rampart Street Blues
Southern Woman's Blues
Mistreatin' Daddy Blues
Craving Blues
Galion Stomp
Chicago Mess Around
[Stop! Stop!]
She also recorded with jazz greats including Johnny Dodds, Tommy Ladnier, Ida Cox, Ma Rainey, Alberta Hunter, Ethel Waters and Bessie Smith.
Very kind regards,
Bill.
