[Dixielandjazz] The "correct way" to solo, expanded

My comment about modern music schools teaching the "correct way" to
solo was intended as an ironic joke.
Today, when students emerge from Berklee or North Texas, they know all
the advanced chords, and can play over them like a champion
waterskier, covering every note of the chord at amazing speed. They
have incredible technique compared to the early legends of jazz.
But that does not guarantee an exceptional, personal, solo that
touches people.
