[Dixielandjazz] Best Jazz Solos

This thread underscores why live jazz is so important, and why OKOM
needs to survive from an esthetic and cultural perspective.

Bix and the boys would go to the Lincoln Gardens and fall on the floor
when Louis and King Joe played. But it was a live experience, not on
record. All lost to us, but what an experience to those who were there!

The willingness of the public to go out and hear real jazz, as it is
made, is the key.

Yes, it is good that many of the great solos were recorded. But jazz
is about doing it live, night after night, and having a crowd to enjoy
the creative experience.

Sadly, our society is unaware of the differences between the great
(live) jazz solos, and the slick, recorded-track-by-track, assemblages
that are today's pop music.
