My favorites are the two classic 1947 Charlie Parker Solos on  
Embraceable You:

He followed that with an alternate take five minutes later that was  
VERY different.

I don't know where you can hear the second take on line, however both  
takes were in the Smithsonian Jazz Collection LP issued years ago and  
I think re-issued on Charlie Parker, The Complete Dial Sessions.

Most inventive and lyrical solos I ever heard. They are, to me, a  
great example of how a genius improvises with fresh ideas, at a  
moment's notice.
