<<Perhaps drums ARE what the music is all about? Probably the  first  
musical instrument and certainly used for communication. There  were a  
lot of great drummers that I listened to during my life time.  Like  
Baby Dodds, Max Roach, Joe Morello etc., . . . and the beat goes  on.

It is certainly  THE thing the dancers dance to. The dancers dance to the 
drummer.

The  only reason the other musicians exist is to make it tolerable for a 
few  hours.
