Yes, and he did so as well for many years with the annual Playboy poll,
except when he briefly retired and Lou Rawls came out on top

If you have not heard it, you just try to get a copy of "Sweet Lorraine"
which Frank recorded with the 1946 Metronome All-Stars.

I believe upon listening to it carefully, you will get a preview of the
jazz-oriented Sinatra that was not to come into full blossom until he
started recording with Capitol in maybe 1953 or 1954.

At least on this number (which happens to have Nat Cole on piano) it is far
more evident than on anything else that he recorded up to that point on
either RCA Victor or Columbia
