I still had most of the Freberg singles on '45's, so I made a "satire"
CD for my grandson. Several of the "original" recordings followed by
the Freberg version. His "History of the United States" is still my
favorite. My son and I still trade lines from it. The Yankee Doodle
bit was wonderful with the hip drummer. Part 1 was great. I've always
thought he "jumped the shark" with part 2.

Hip and irreverent, Stan Freberg was the last network radio comic, a trailblazing satirist whose work greatly expanded the vocabulary of the comedy form. While most comedians use radio and records merely as a springboard for more lucrative film and television gigs. Freberg pushed the envelope in both mediums, creating high-concept musical comedies and sound collages which revolutionized the audio format while sending the stage for hallucinatory sonic visions of the Firesign Theater and the National Lampoon troupe."
