The rarely shown 1932 WB-First National comedy, "Crooner," which charts the meteoric
rise and fall of an unknown singer in the Crosby-Vallee-Columbo mold, will be presented
by Turner Classic Movies on cable/satellite this Thursday at 7:45 AM (EST). The exceptionally
handsome David Manners plays the title role, but I don't know whether he did his
own singing in the film. The several numbers include one by Harry Warren and Al Dubin
entitled "Three's a Crowd."
