Anyone out there remember the origin of the number?
I was just reminded a few minutes ago watching the 1938 movie "Going Places"
starring Dick Powell.
The song, with music by Harry Warren and lyrics by Johnny Mercer was
introduced in the film by Louis Armstrong as he sang it to the racehorse
bearing that name.
As I recall, Maxine Sullivan also appeared as a maid in the same flick and
performed some other musical number but I haven't gotten to it just yet.
I am so thankful to the Turner Classic Movies channel for showing so many of
these old movies, uninterrupted and in glorious black & white
HC.
