Well,
There was a very good Tribute to Red Nichols concert at the Breda Jazz
Festival on his centennial, and also one for Adrian Rollini.
Strangely - at least to me - Bengt Persson, a well known early
Armstrong specialist, played the Nichols part very successfully.
BTW, I am not a great fan of recreation bands.  If it is done like
Brian White's King Jazz on GHB - playing your own versions of the
original band, even if you use the same arangements and line-up, then
it's OK, but compying - the originals did it better.
But that was not the point. The point was that there were so many good
tunes in those days nobody plays anymore.
