I don't have any more info except that I also have a recording of it by
Turk Murphy (1972), but the liner notes don't give anything on that
tune. Maybe one of his guys know more. Scott Anthony? Bob Ringwald?
(this sounds right up your alley anyway)

"Saloon"? Who is composer and lyricist? Date of copyright? Was it

I have a CD with Pat Yankee singing it and a couple of lead sheets that

came by from a no longer recalled source that attributes no one for this
fun 
old tune.
 
Google searching on that one word rather useless.
