Mike:
I have been rather satisfied with the MGM album issued in conjunction with
the 1954 off-Bway revival. I obtained it on LP a little later in the 50s..
It was around the same time that Dick Hyman had his hit recording of
"Moritat", the instrumental version of "Mack the Knife"
We all know of course that Lotte Lenya was Jenny but you might be interested
to know that a couple of the other cast membrs included Charlotte Rae (from
the TV show "Facts of Life") as Polly Peachum and Bea Arthur ("Maude",
"Golden Girls") as Lucy Brown.
You know the names of those characters of course from the Bobby Darin &
Louis Armstrong renditions of "Mack the Knife"
I'm reasonably cerfain that you will be able to find a copy in CD format
reasonably priced on either Amazon or Halfcom. by EBay if you're not opposed
to shopping online
Tides,
HC.

were and say why not -
