If my memory serves me right  - and it doesn't always do so - I believe 
that it was Jack Sheldon's beautifully phased trumpet solos in the 
soudntrack of  The Night of the Iguana and the theme song "The Shadow of 
Your Smile" that proved 'just how good' he is, as Ringwald's review clip 
noted.

A bit of a clown, a free spirit, but at the heart of it all one 'good 
player' to admire.
