Glad to hear about Dixieland Direct. Their reed man, Henning Hoehne is  
an oustanding
Jazz Musician. One of the best OKOM reed men in the USA, IMO. That  
band exudes energy and professionalism.

Henning, a Master Chief Petty Officer, (musician) retired from the  
Navy Band at Annapolis about a decade ago. I got to play with him a  
few times at the ball park in Baltimore and at a memorial service for  
our late cornetist, Mac McClaeb. Mac was in our band in the 1990s and  
was also a retired Master Chief Musician from the Naval Academy Band.  
I can well understand why they won the battle of the bands.

Those military musicians in the DC area are GREAT players, and those  
who play jazz are equally as great.
