Bert Thompson suggested:
the Paul Gonsalves' performance at the 1956 Newport Jazz Festival with Duke Ellington when he blew 27 straight choruses on his tenor sax solo on "Diminuendo and Crescendo in Blue."
Dear Bert (and others),
We have (as is frequent) drifted away from Sheik's original question.
Which was:
> What OKOM tunes do you consider to be worth
> playing for 15-20 minutes?
Tunes, not soloists, was the question.
In daze gone by, here in Australia, we had some New Orleans 'revivalists' who would happily spent 20-30 minutes playing "Weary Blues".
At the drop of a hat! As we say here.
