[Dixielandjazz] Pat the Ladd's Colonel Bogey reference

There was a story going around marching band lists that Colonel Bogey was a British Army officer in WW1( or earlier) who played a lot of golf (badly.) I think some early versions of the sheet music had his picture, or maybe an illustration. 

I have no idea if this is a true fact.
