Greetings, Jazz Fans! It's September's very infrequent yet satisfyingly informative
New Creole Jazz Band email newsletter! (Removal instructions at bottom of message)
Wow! We've been at San Francisco Oven on Republic Oven in Springfield for four
months! Why? Because the food's great and the big crowds are having a ball listening
to hot New Orleans jazz. Thanks so much for your support. Come join us this Sunday
anytime from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
This Sunday -
We're going to add a new tune to our book. It's an old torch song from 1923 called
"Oh, Daddy" and it features our good tailgate trombone man, Bob Swanson. It's
a real bump and grind number and Bob's going to tear it up so don't miss this
one.
We're On FaceBook -
You can join our "fans" by simply going to http://www.creolejazz.com and clicking
on "Become a fan". Boy, that was easy! You'll see info, photos, and posts by
other fans. Got a good photo of the band? Post it!
Good Tunes -
We're recently played some great obscure tunes like "New Orleans Shuffle", "Potato
Head Blues", "New Orleans Stomp", "Honolulu Blues", and "I Wish I Could Shimmy
Like My Sister Kate". We've also played some everybody knows like "Up a Lazy
River", "Ain't Misbehavin", and "Alexander's Ragtime Band". Come out Sunday and
request your favorites.
Good Players -
We've had some great musicians sit in with the band lately like Steve Mann on
vocals, Brent Vaughn on clarinet, Tom Rastorfer on trombone, Brandon Henson on
bass, Will Binge on tenor saxophone, and Dick Turner on clarinet.
See You Sunday -
We hope you'll spend part of this Labor Day weekend with us listening to New
Orleans style jazz.
Sundays, 5:30-7:30 p.m.
San Francisco Oven in Springfield, Missouri
1110 E. Republic Road, just west of National on the south side of the street
Please pass this email on to everyone you know in the Springfield area. Thanks
for supporting live, New Orleans jazz.
