[Dixielandjazz] Promotion/Spam

I'm going to try some new ideas in the  promotion of my group. I would  
like to develop an introduction e-mail for cold call purposes.
Something to be sent to targeted audiences asking to consider our band  
for their live musical needs. I have ideas about my target audience,  
what I'm looking for are sample letters from other groups (PM would be  
great) that do this type of thing and any advise you might offer. Is  
this type of promotion viewed as spam by the targeted e-mail?
