[Dixielandjazz] Fret replacement on B & D Senorita?

Shalom Jazz Fans,

Can any of you banjo players give me some advice? I need to replace some
frets on a Bacon & Day Senorita tenor. I've done it before on another banjo
with a rosewood finger board. But the B & D fingerboard is "mother of toilet
seat" which seems to be plastic. With a wooden one, I oiled the wood and
then gently lifted out the old frets with a sharp knife. No problem. But I
suppose oil won't help much with the plastic. It's a 1940s model, and I
don't want to risk breaking the fingerboard.

Can anyone point me in the right direction on this?

Thanks,

Elazar
