[Dixielandjazz] Old Cornet

Hi Bob,
JW Pepper originated in Philadelphia in the middle of the 19th century
and is still in the music business, but mostly as a retailer and not
publisher. They are the largest supplier of printed music to
educational institutions and church choirs. Their "home office" is in
Paoli, Pennsylvania and I have been there countless times to choose
music for my school groups. Unfortunately, there is not very much
music left for browsing in Paoli or their other 13 branches. They have
consolidated their stock into two main shipping locations - Atlanta
and Salt Lake City.

In their lobby area at Paoli, they have a showcase containing several
vintage instruments which bear the Pepper name, including a helicon,
and a collection of vintage photographs connected with their history.
They ceased their instrument manufacturing operations in 1909, but
continued to sell their stock of instruments. If you are interested in
their history, go to this page: http://www.jwpepper.com/catalog/pep_history.jsp

Cheers,
John
