Some background for Auld Lang Syne

The lyric derives from Scottish poetry circa 1568

Different versions in the 1700s appear in D, G, F and Eb.

I think Most of us play it in F these days for sing alongs

For Don Ingle: (part of the 5th stanza)

"They wad me hals with hude and hutt,
Quhyle I wes riche and had anewch,
About me friendis anew I gatt
Rycht blythlie on me the lewch;
Bot now the mak it wondir tewch
And lattis me stand befoir the yett
Thairfoir this warld is very frewch,
And auld kindness is quyt foryett

Sing that over a wie dram of Cardhu.

Cheers,
Steve Barbone
