Looking again at Dan's email... Assuming you are happy with your midi piano
sound, and your keyboard has the "feel" you like, the complaint seems to be
more with the amplification mode. Although our pianist will use a monitor
for the house system for his "listening device", I never feel it is the best
solution. He is at the mercy of the guys doing the sound (who for some odd
reason love to tamper with the level & eq once the gig has started!).

I feel the correct solution is to shop around until you find the right amp
for the sound you want (making sure that it is compatible with your own
keyboard setup first.) Then, you will always have the sound that you like
with the level & eq that you set up for yourself, and the house sound (if
necessary) can get a feed off of your amp (or use a mike in front of it). I
would go for something basically small & get it up to the level of your
head, or aimed at your head from the floor. The whole band will be able to
hear the keyboard, then, from the amp, & it will be "coming from" the
pianist's area, not out of their own monitors...giving the impression that
the "piano is over there", not on the floor in front of you.

Easy-peasy, except you have to haul all the stuff around. :> Get used to
it! Drummers have been doing for ever!!!
