[Dixielandjazz] Tuba vs, String Bass

[Steve Marcus]

Although not strictly Dixieland (more along the lines of OKOM), the bass player in The Ingenues all-female band (seen at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ACtACBX0gM ) plays a Jumbo sousaphone, then moves to her left to play upright bass.  Although not seen playing it during the video clip, there's also a bass sax set up for her on a stand to the left (stage right) of the sousaphone.

I'm all in favor of bass sax.  I've got a Buescher bass from 1922 and I'm
dying to use it in a good trad band. I've been using it in a string band.
The tunes are much the same but the drive isn't and there's no soloing!

Anybody in New Jersey looking for a hot bass sax?
