As a young palyer in L.A. area, I odten fropped into the small clubs to 
ear somce fo the bands that were active, and a favored place to fnd them 
was the Royal Room on Hollywood Blvd. The room was long ad aks had a 
second room beyond the first. One time Wingy Manone was playing the 
front room, and a be-bop band  played in the back room. On this occasion 
things were slow, so when a few people came in and by=passed the Manone 
bandstand heading to the backroom, Wingy shouted out -- "Hey -- don't go 
back there and listen to that s*** -- stay up front and *hear the truth*!"
The stunned people stopped, turned, and sat down, as if afraid of what 
Wingy might do next!
