Dear Marek,
Many years ago I belonged to a jazz record appreciation club. Most of the
time was spent discussing jazz records, but some of the time was spent on
other topics, mostly cultural such as films, books, painters. In this way we
all broadened our horizons and got to know each other better. For my part I
was introduced to George Orwell, James Joyce, films such as Rashomon, the
Seventh Seal, the Picasso Mystery, and impressionist and post-impressionist
painters.
Although I agree that we should spend most of our time on discussing OKOM, I
don't feel that digressions do other than good. If your interests don't run
to other than OKOM, then that's OK. In my case I relish the odd digression,
including such things as the Ealing Studios comedies, jokes (particularly
musically oriented ones), picking up on amusing typos (with no malice),
fishing tales, etc.
Kind Regards,
Bob Smith
