Great Britain is a name derived from elderly geography, and the French language of a sometime ruling elite.
Grand Bretagne has kept its meaning, Big ....  meaning the landmass surrounded by water and smaller islands, the biggest of which is most of Ireland. Britain is of course bigger geographically than Great Britain. The formula assumes the presence of the very numerous smaller islands in the geopolitical entity.

Presumably Majorca aka Mallorca is an absolute hoot down under, since it has the same sort of meaning, Grand Cayman . . . .

Perhaps some of the educational work done by a lot of Scotsmen has partly worn away in Australia? Hardly as much as it has done in Scotland itself.
A Scottish Arts award being presented not on the grounds of supposed merit, but where there is enormous merit --  ah, the Marvel of Mathieson, the sheer intelligence of Jazz!
Ostensibly Ken-Optimised Music!
