I enjoyed this year's festival, though if I had to pick my favorite it
would be the one in 2008, as I could just go from one great set to
another, and mostly at the Convention Center.
This year, as in many past festivals, I sat through a couple of sets
that I didn't really enjoy, to position myself for a set I didn't want
to miss. The first day in the Yolo Room there seemed to be some
annoying problems with the sound system. Other than that, I got to
enjoy some great bands, and some wonderful ragtime music (at the
Convention Center). I was glad I got to the tribute to our dear friend,
the late Bill Gunter. If I had pick favorites, I'd narrow it down to
High Sierra and the Golden Gate Rhythm Machine. A couple of others that
I thought were particularly good were the 101st Army Dixieland Band and
Catsnjammer.
