Hi Jane,

Why didn't I think of that :-?

Google tells me that it is even one of Bird's own compositions. 

Still I have the feeling that the chords fit another ballad evergreen, as was pretty common at the time.

        Dick, in the various references to this beautiful piece, it is referred to simply as "Ballade."
