Hi Jerry,
The compliment on the piano may have been polite. That was the first gig
of the tour. The piano sounds good on the recording. We had stopped in a
Pizza restaurant in Norwich before the gig, but Bill was anxious to get
to the hall to warm up. We left Annie with Art and Jan and the band and
I drove him to the hall. As soon as he was out of Anne's sight he became
the mischievious little boy, eying all the young girls! It was on this
short drive that I asked him what he thought about Pee Wee. He said he
felt he had to help him out. He said Ed Hall was great.

You did us proud that night.

This was in the relatively early days of video camera's and Louis Lince
had got hold of a Sony Umatic machine. As the gig progressed and the
light failed, Art disappeared into the shadows. Happy days.
Cheers
John

He looked worried but sat down, opened the lid and played a few scales and other bits, put the lid down, got up and walked off the stage to the bar where I was standing. I asked the dreaded question as he was not smiling but was greatly cheered by his answer, "It's one of the best I've played on this trip." I remember that during the evening he played a four hand duet with his wife as well.
