[Dixielandjazz] Fw: What's this about?

Hi all,

Thanks to Dan Kirkman, Dave Richoux and Dan Augustine for their input on this. My anti-virus found nothing sinister in the incoming mails, but I suspected phishing and binned the 2 mails. A third one came in later and got binned too. Since they were coming to me from DJML, I also feared that someone was using the list to disseminate spam, if anyone was daft enough to respond.

If Dave Gannett is reading this, are you the guy who used to play tuba with the Black Dogs? If so, we've met lots of times when I was on the road with Fat Sam's Band. I knew all that exploding tuba nonsense on Tiger Rag would get to you sooner or later!

Regards,

Ken Mathieson

Subject: What's this about?

Hi folks,

I got the mail below and an identical one (timed at the same time) ostensibly in connection with a posting I had made to the list. As you can see, the sender made no attempt to identify himself, so I haven't responded to the invitation to reply, I've treated both mails as potentially malicious and zapped them. It could be perfectly genuine, in which case the sender should have identified him/herself. Alternatively, the list might be being used to propagate spam.
