Dear Marek,
Because the early discographers believed that it was Coleman Hawkins  
on the 4 April 1930 Jack Purvis session (although Walt Allen always  
had doubts), and it is listed as such in all editions of the Brian  
Rust bible, 'Jazz Records'. Even the 2002 edition.
Tom Lord's updated 'The Jazz Discography' includes a note referring to  
Castor McCord.
It was not until the 1970s interview with Okeh man, Bob Stephens, that  
the true facts emerged.
However, the information was never widely circulated via discography  
until fairly recently.
And discographers aren't really infallible.
