Ron, IMHO, I don't believe the tenor of the division of races at that time would preclude the fact that you would worryabout your safety. Most of the prostitutes in NO were white and the bawdy houses catered to both races. >From what I have read, NO was more cosmipolitan than many cities in the US.

I would like to be on any band date with Jelly Roll Morton, but yes, hearing
Bolden would be incredible.  Of course with my skin color in those days, I
probably would have been in deep trouble/danger if I tried to enter FB hall.
And the same would probably apply to most of the Morton gigs 8-(.

             Without a doubt I'd visit the Funky Butt Hall in Perdido  
St on a Saturday in 1900 to hear the Loudest Trumpet since Gabriel!
