Years ago I took an evening course in conversational French and we met at spinster lady professor's home once each week.? The lessons were roughly set up as scripts as in a play.? She had a visitor join us one evening from Sierra Leone, so the class could converse with a person native in French.?
The script included trying some 'hors d'ouvres" and this guy who had never seen the word before...said in heavily accented English:
" What ees theece..as would you say, whore's ovaries?"

It's a wonderful (to my ears) collection of 25 big band concert pieces
from the mid to latter 30s, some to 1945. Many tracks are Sid Phillips
charts/compositions. The band is g-r-e-a-t, as it the audio quality. A few
tunes you'll recognize--Memphis Blues, Copenhagen, Caravan,
Dardanella--but most you won't. That's OK, many tracks are exciting, most
are interesting.
It doesn't cost much to experiment, because Vocalions from Jazz'n'Blues
are budget priced.
