80 year old jazz saxophonist/composer Benny Golson with this line to a  
very enthusiastic audience at Dizzy's Club Coca Cola, Lincoln Center,  
NYC:

"Metaphorically speaking, we throw ourselves upon the bosom of your  
applause, imbibing its lactate."
