The trombonist on her definitive Mad About The Boy is Billy Byers.

BTW, for those may not know much about author, Noel Coward, this song
is a gay anthem.

The session was recorded on December 4 1961 in Chicago. The arranger
was Quincy Jones, the orchestra is for the most part, unidentified
unless Bill Haesler can sleuth it out, but the trombone was Billy
Byers, Trumpet was Joe Newman and the pianist was Jack Wilson.

Ms. Washington worked with some great bands. Some of the great
trombonists in them were Billy Byers, Urbie Green, Quentin Jackson,
Jimmy Cleveland, Kai Winding, Frank Rosolino, Si Zentner, Tommy
Pederson, Sonny Russo, Chauncy Welsch, Melba Liston, Julian Preister,
Rod Levitt and others.

To hear clips from her "Fats Waller" album backed by a BIG band,
