[Dixielandjazz] Ed Metz Out Of Rehab

Dear Friends and Listmates,
In case you may have noticed that I've been absent for 5 or 6 weeks, I'm now out of rehab after falling and breaking my hip on 8/17/08 while visiting my son Eddie in Florida. As of today, I was able to get on line for the first time since then, such that now I can begin the long, arduous task of responding to 1476 messages (you sure are a verbose group). 

This will be the most painful aspect of my recovery. However, I approach the daunting task with all the newly found energy that I've discovered. I ask your patience,

A few important items for many DJMLers:

1) I will be back on the bandstand in December, although I've had to cancel several dates in October and November. Sorry about that but I know that?the folks who are covering for me are top notch players.

2) My rehab has progressed very well and this afternoon I took my first steps without a walker, using only a cane.
3) I expect to be back to complete "normal" by 1/1/09.
4) I expect to be able to respond to all my emails by 1/1/10.
Thanks in advance for what I expect will be a lot of support in the days (maybe weeks) to come.
