Here is a  note from jazz pianist Dave McKenna's son, Steve, regarding
Dave's condition.  Thanks to New York jazz/classical pianist/arranger Russ
Kassoff for passing it along.  I think that some of you, friends and
admirers of Dave, will wish to send him a note.  I certainly will!

I received this from Dave McKenna's son - Steve and his family. As we all
know how special Dave is - as a legendary iconic pianist and person - please
add him to your thoughts and prayers and pass the info on to your colleagues
and all the folks who you think should know.

FWD: From Steve McKenna

 

Dad has been in the hospital for this past week. He was admitted with a
severe urinary tract infection which knocked the hell out of him. 
The infection now finally seems to just about completely out of his system.
 
However, they discovered yesterday a blood clot in his right arm and he is
now on medication (thinners) to dissolve the clot.  Also, they found a lump
in his right shoulder area. It could be no cause for worry, or it could be
an indication the cancer has spread (he was diagnosed with lung cancer
roughly a year ago). We will know the results of the biopsy in the next day
or two.
 
He will be in the hospital for several more days (minimum). Hopefully we
will be able to get him back home to have some quality time until the cancer
ultimatly takes over.
 
I encourage you to spread the word to any of Dad's colleagues or anyone who
would like to send dad a note/card to:
