Dear Bob and all,
'Tan Town Topics' was a 1926 Plantation Revue which played the
Lafayette Theater theatre for 3-4 weeks and several more weeks touring
the eastern TOBA circuit, including the Royal Theater, Baltimore and
the Grand Theater, Chicago. Fats Waller and Spencer Williams wrote the
score which included "Senorita Mine" and "Charleston Hound". Adelaide
Hall was in the cast.
There also appears to have been a 1925 revue of the same name which
included Ethel Waters and Josephine Baker.
I also have a reference indicating that this was the the original name
for Fat's smash hit 1929 show 'Hot Chocolates', but doubt this.
Singer Victoria Spivey toured with a 'Tan Town Topics' show through
Oklahoma and Texas in 1933.
Kind regards,
Bill.
