DJMLers--
Just wanted to alert you to a new band in San Antonio who just
played a concert here in Austin hosted by the Austin Traditonal Jazz
Society.
Their name is the Mission City Hot Rhythm Cats (http://
missioncityjazz.com/index.htm) and three of their players used to
play in Jim Cullum's band: Mike Pittsley (trombone), Mark Hess
(piano), and Ed Torres (drums). In addition, they have David Jellema
(cornet, clarinet), Pierre Poree (clarinet, alto sax, vocals), and
Tim Paco (bass).
Their expertise and style is pretty close (not surprisingly) to
Cullum's, and they're capable of being a nationally known band for
tours and festivals. My review of their performance is at http://
www1.onr.com/atjs/reviews/20081116.html
I don't know if any of them are on DJML, but i've already sent
them some of Steve Barbone's excellent comments on using CD Baby, and
i'm sure they'd be interested in more of his great marketing ideas.

     Dan
