[Dixielandjazz] US vs UK DVD's

Thank you all for your prompt replies to my question.  I knew there was 
NTSC vs PAL, but didn't even know about Region Codes.  Actually the 
question was on behalf of a friend of mine in Arizona, and I'm not even 
sure of what he is trying to do.  I think he just wants to share some 
DVD's with a friend in the UK.  I also found the following link which
