The main problem with DVDs is the area code that is on a lot of them.
When you are first setting up the DVD player it will ask you what country 
you are in and then it will set itself to that area code. That is now 
illegal in Australia, they must by law be allowed to play all areas.
If the your area has codes in the players you can get around this with 
several computer programs, either by copying the DVD and keeping the 
original in "pristine" condition by playing the copy; or play the DVD on 
your computer.
