Hi Folks,
I am about to move to Ireland and know nothing about OKOM in this country.
Are there any one on this list from Ireland? Could anyone give me links,
bands names, festivals, OKOM pubs, etc?
Luís Henriques

Luis, I don't believe we have anyone on the list from Ireland, at least
amongst those that actually speak up on the list. My wife's family live
there, and in the 1970's & '80's there were places in Dublin that you could
hear OKOM. I usually spent the month of August there during those years
(when our kids were small!), and jammed, and even worked with a number of
groups.

I've unfortunately lost contact with all those people, so can't help you
out. There is a music performer's collection agency there that was quite
active at least into the end of the '90's, so you might look for them to
find other musicians. I'm referring to the agency that would collect
royalties & distribute funds to the performing musician (much like the
author's/composer's agencies in most countries, but this one is for the
performing arts).

Temple Bar, an area of Dublin, is where all the clubs are now, but I think
you will find more rock & folk music there. Still, it's a good place to
meet musicians & ask about your type of music.

There is, of course, the Cork Jazz Festival, but you will find more blues &
rock than OKOM there, I believe. Also, most (or all) the bands will be
imported....not local.

Oh, and aside from your bathing suit, you will need a sturdy sweater for
those lovely, Irish summer beach days! :>

Jim
