The others responding to this thread have offered some good ideas. Here are
a few more.
1. Try amateur or semi-professional big bands. The jump from big band to
small jazz band is a lot smaller than the jump from non-jazz types of music
to jazz.
2. Post for musicians on Craigslist, www.craigslist.com. Postings are
free, so you have nothing to lose. There is a Craigslist page just for
Williamsport. Go to Community, Musicians. There aren't many listings for
musicians, but at least yours won't get lost in the shuffle.
3. Try any community bands near where you live. There may be a couple of
dixieland wannabes playing with them. Dan Augustine mentioned this, but I
will second the motion.
4. Put up postings in large music stores which cater to band musicians.
5. Try a newspaper classified, especially in a community newspaper catering
to the arts.
I have been to Williamsport. It's in a very pretty area.
