I only know Loose Marbles via YouTube--but really enjoyed those. Made a 400
mile round trip to see The Asylum Street Spankers after watching them on
YouTube. They opened with a known high energy OKUM number--(it might have been
"Yes Sir, That's My Baby") to the roar of a young mid-aged crowd in a
well-known biker's bar. Wammo, co--leader of the group writes almost all their
stuff and says he intentionally tries to write music that "sounds like other
music" (that sells). Even before I knew they got their start in Austin in a bar
on Asylum Street I took it that a big part of their roots was Western Swing.
And Christina Marrs, the other leader-writer----her live blues renditions
all time memorable for me. But then there were no weak members in the group
the evening I saw them. Would make another drive like that to see them in a
minute.

Just found one video of Sick's Pack on YouTube, listed for about a
minute--nothing struck me as anything but heavy metal so shut it down.

Could this be a trend? There are many other bands flirting around the
edges of OKOM, such as Sick's Pack, Loose Marbles and The Asylum
Street Spankers.
Cheers,
Steve Barbone
