Those in the Bay area who enjoy excellent bass players may wish to  
visit Yoshi's in Oakland on the 13th, 14th or 15th this month. Bassist  
Matt Brewer is appearing there with Cuban pianist Gonzalo Rubalcaba.

Tom Wiggins and Bob Romans may remember Rubalcaba jamming with Paul  
Grant, Buddy Apfel and me at the Red Sea Jazz Festival a year and a  
half ago in Israel, on Sweet Georgia Brown.

Be warned, however, that it is probably very modern jazz at Yoshi's.

Matt Brewer grew upin Oklahoma and New Mexico. He now lives in New  
York City and is a superb jazz bass player.
