That was why there was consideration. I'm pleased I gave you an opportunity to spell out problems you and numerous others have encountered, "but not being accorded consideration and playing jazz are two things you do not have in common with the bands in the march in question. " Sorry , but I beg to differ? But perhaps not with the 'bands in question'?But I will say in defense of 'BANDS' everywhere, and I use this term loosely here.... You do not know what or whom or which band I have played with....or the music we entertained with?? Jazz takes many forms as you well know? And not every marching unit is a 'band' persay? Many are 'Drum and Bugle Corps' and or and can be other musical units not defined. We do not all 'sit to play with music sheets at the ready(not that there is anything wrong with this--- a broader repertoire is the much desired out come!). Much is improvised such like (and beyond)a stage bound unit. Please do not confuse 'playing Jazz'? and 'Marching units' as if they are separate identities?
""Jazz bands have never been allowed to get away with marching past Roman Catholic churches -- "" Huh??Where does this happen? I have never heard such a thing in all the years I have marched in parades? (20+) I have neverseen(?) or heard such a thing??? I will admit I have only participated in a few 'Orange Walks' but have marched in, 20+ other parades a year for about 20 years, and I have never seen 'Jazz bands' not allowed to play past Roman Catholic churches?? Never seen signs posted or seen parade officals at the 'ready' to stop 'Jazz bands' from playing past RC churches...and I was a Drum Major for quite a few years and very observiant of parade officials(and saluting the many Flags that adorn the many churches enroute)...so I am sure I would have noticed the above???????? So I need to ask??? WHERE DOES THIS HAPPEN?? Please enlighten me.
