The latest Hot Jazz Channel show - www.radiojazz.co.uk - is now live.
Once again the programme is both international and pan-jazz history. Heading
up this month's offerings are the Wolverine Jazz Band fron New England, they
are followed by the international pairing of Bria Sonberg and Jim Fryer with
their new Borderline Jazz Band whilst Scotland's Alex Welsh and his band
conclude the first segment. British soprano sax star Charlie Connor then
debuts his new CD, and a track from the blues archive of bandleader Chris
Barber features Muddy Waters and Otis Spann with Chris' band. A vintage
British track by the Al Fairweather Jazzmen follows as does one from the
legendary West Coast Bob Helm band. A current British band - Martin Bennet's
Old Green River Band - follow preceded by a track recorded in the
pre-Preservation Hall Larry Borenstein's New Orleans art gallery featuring
the Punch Miller Band. The final segment this month begins with a late
1930's Count Basie track and that's followed by another from the archives -
Sidney Bechet with Art Hodes Quartet playing Panama. The show closes with an
old Jimmy Blythe number - Sock That Thing - by the late very fine Cy
Laurie's Band.
Hot Jazz Channel shosw are devised and produced by Brian Harvey and
engineered by John Booth.
