I've used another approach and it's spawned two brilliant young musicians
who have played for us since one was 16 and the other 19. Actually, I've
used this approach for all 19 years of my Tribute to Bix fest.

We feature all night original 78 record playing and have two days of
exclusive 78, LP, sheet music and jazz book sales. A few years ago the 16
year old and I were the last two still playing 78s at 5:30am in the hot
music room.

What I'm saying is record collecting is still big. These two musicians are
crazy for 78's now and know so much, already. Check out musicians who work
festivals around the country and in Europe. You'll find many collect
records and learned from playing along with these records. John Otto (you
know him) has record playing sessions at his house and he always plays at my
all night session when He's booked at our fest. He even shows up when not
booked, if he's not playing somewhere else. Vince Giordano always played
and listened to records at prior Tribute to Bix fests in the 1990's when I
had them in Libertyville, IL. I've collected original issue 78's since I
was 18 years old. Most of the Original Salty Dogs started this way. Keep
it in mind. Many thanks for your time.

                                                            --end--
