The film showings are in conjunction with the 37th Annual Jazz Record  
Collectors Bash. Admission to the film shows is $5 each night or free  
with admission to the Bash.  Bash admission is $20 on Friday (which  
also includes Saturday admission) and $10 on Saturday.  For further  
information, inquire at Room 203.


Friday: Jazz collector and film historian David Weiner will present  
two hours of rare film and TV clips, showcasing jazz and pop artists  
of the 1920s through the 1960s. Among the featured performers will be  
the big bands of Louis Armstrong, Jimmie Lunceford, Gene Krupa,  
Charlie Barnet & Jimmy Dorsey; small jazz groups led by Art Tatum,  
Dave Brubeck, Louis Prima, Benny Goodman & Dexter Gordon; some  
"sweeter" bands of the 1920s and 30s: Paul Whiteman, Fred Waring, Ted  
FioRito, Henry Busse & Kay Kyser; and vocalists Bing Crosby, Cliff  
"Ukulele Ike" Edwards, Alice Faye, Harold Nicholas, Billie Holiday,  
Ella Fitzgerald, Anita O´Day and the Mills Brothers.  Plus "swing"  
cartoons and an experimental jazz film from 1921!

Saturday: Ron Hutchinson, co-founder of The Vitaphone Project will  
present a largely previously unseen collection of early sound jazz and  
vaudeville short subjects starring such performers as Buck & Bubbles,  
The Boswell Sisters, The Southland Rhythm Girls, Eddie Cantor, Bill  
"Bojangles" Robinson, the hilarious Shaw & Lee, and many more.
